Apple Trifle with Dulce de Leche is a terrific dessert because it´s made in advance. It can be super easy if you make the trifle in one big glass bowl instead of portion glasses like I did. The caramel and apples are perfect together because you get the sweet from the caramel and sourness from the apples. It´s a perfect apple treat!
Makes 4 portions
2 dl whipped Cream (3/4 cup)
150 g Dulce de Leche (5 ounces)
Candied Nuts of your choice, I used almonds, wahnuts and cashews
2 teaspoons of Sugar
2 teaspoons of Waters
1 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Cardamom
- Cut the apples in bites size pieces and put in a sauce pan on medium heat together with sugar, water, cinnamon and cardamom. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the apples are tender. Let it cool.
- In four portion glasses or one big glass serving bowl, layer one third of the whipped cream, dulce de leche, nut mixture, buckwheats and apple mixture. Repeat layers twice.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
