Mustards can appear in so many different ways. Some are smooth, others almost entirely made from barely cracked seeds. Vinegar is often used, but wine, beer, grape must, and even fruit juices are used to moisten the seeds. Sweetness is usually achieved by adding honey.
Try this recipe! It’s Easy-peasy and you really have no reason to ever buy mustard again.
Makes 10 small jars à 2 dl
4 bags à 26 g of Brown Mustard Seeds
8 bags à 26 g of Yellow Mustard Seeds
8 tablespoons White Wine Vinegar
4 teaspoons Salt
8 tablespoons Sugar
8 tablespoons Mustard Powder
2 dl Oil
6 dl Water
1 dl Honey
Fresh Ginger and Orange
- Boil the mustard seeds for 5 minutes, drain and let them cool.
- Put all ingredients i a large bowl and mix with a hand mixer until it´s smooth. Now the mustard is done and you are free to flavor it with different spices. I flavored mine with grated fresh ginger and zest from one orange.
- Pour into jars and store in fridge.
